The MQ-2 detects combustible gases (LPG, propane, methane) and smoke, providing both analog concentration output and a digital threshold alarm output. It is the standard sensor for home gas leak detectors, industrial safety systems, and kitchen safety automation in India.
The MQ-2 requires a 20-second warm-up period after power-on before readings are reliable. For accurate ppm measurements, calibration in clean air is required. For simple alarm triggering (gas present/not present), the digital output works without calibration. Ideal with a 1-Channel Relay to trigger an exhaust fan or alarm automatically.
